Georgia Renaissance Festival

Georgia Renaissance Festival

This is one of the ‘local’ fairs that I try to make each year.  The Georgia Renaissance Festival (GRF) is one of the biggest if not the biggest Ren Fairs in the southeast and they put on a hell of a show.  From the merchants to the shows to the food to the mead, this is a fair to end all fairs.  I try to make it each year and the years that I miss seem paler in comparison.  First, the shops.

The shopping at the fair is second to none.  They have some of the best crafters and artisans that you will find on the ren fair circuit.  Leather workers, armorers, weapons smiths and much more at every turn.  The crafters at the GRF was how I got my wife to attend her first ren fair.  I promised her lots of jewelry and she was certainly not disappointed.  I think she ended up spending more then me that day.  Bring lots of coin because you are going to want to buy everything you see.

Next there is the entertainment.  The GRF has some of the best shows that you will ever see.  From the jousting to the comedy, everybody in your group will find plenty to watch.  here is the only problem I have ever found with the entertainment, trying to see each and every show.  There is only one solution:  go for two days… minimum.  In two days if you plan your route correctly, you will get to see every show and every version of every show.  Yes, people, if you didn’t know, most of the shows at the GRF have multiple versions.
