Museum Replicas

Here is one of my favorite online vendors.  Museum Replicas is located in Atlanta, GA and they turn out some of the best replicas and costume pieces that you will find online.  Now, that being said we are not talking handmade garb.  We are not talking all hand-forged weapons, though most of their weapons are hand forged.  We are talking factory made but they are also cost effective and their hand-forged items are incredible!  You are not going to be misled by this group.  Here is one of my favorite things about their website:  you can search by Time Period.  Yes, friends you can choose your genre.  If you are a steampunker, choose steampunk.  If you are into the Civil War thing, go to the Civil War section.  Fantasy, they have fantasy.  And if you are a pirate – like me – they have a pirate section.  It is a great place to start if you are just looking at building your costume.  Of course, that being said you can just dive in and start browsing.

Here are some of my favorite features of their site and in their catalog:

  • Create-Your-Own-Sword:  The choices are limited right now but you can choose your own parts and put your own sword together.  They make it and you get to carry your own blade.  They will engrave it for you.  What more could you ask for?
  • The have Pirate as an area – need I say more?  I may have to mention this one more time before I am done.
  • Their selection:  The selection runs from inexpensive costume pieces to very expensive high quality items.  For instance, the mail shirts they offer range from brass to steel.  You can get different patterns of chain maile.  You can even choose riveted or regular jump rings.
  • In an ode to their steampunk section and my continued love of all things steampunk, they have a monocle that I need.  See the picture below.

It is really a great resource and store.  Go search the site for your particular milieu.  See if they have something you can use.  They will have a weapon that fit your costume’s needs, I guarantee it.  Of course, I don’t work for them, so I don’t know that my guarantee is very helpful.
