Tennessee Renaissance Festival

Tennessee Renaissance Festival

This is my state Fair!  I love it.  The Tennessee Renaissance Festival (TRF) take splace under the trees giving it a very Sherwood-y feel. You literally feel like you are stepping into a small medieval village.  TRF is located outside of the Nashville, TN metro area in Arrington, TN.  Lots of fun, lots of entertainment and the atmosphere is fantastic.  Each of the vendors has there own little nook under the trees.  Bring on the sun because you will walk in the shade.  While you are at the fair you will be able to visit Castle Gwynn.  This replica castle is only part of the fun and no trip to the fair is complete without a visit to the castle.  While you are there you will be able to view the RoseDan-Freeman Collection of Weaponry and the Needlework and Tapestry Collection of Imogene Stone.

The jousting is one of the biggest attractions at this fair.  This is not entertainment jousting, though it is certainly entertaining.  This is the real deal.  The jousters from the Freelancers are in full armor and they are pulling no punches, or lances as the case may be.  This is full contact jousting.  The last weekend of each year is part of the International Jousting Tourney and you will get to see the joust performed for supremacy of the field.  Trust me this is something that you don’t want miss!

The gaming area of the TRF is another draw.  Make sure your kids are ready for the fun.  From the Jacob’s Ladder to the throwing axes, the games area at TRF is something to behold.  All the games are lined up and ready for your little ones (and older ones too) to have a lot of fun.
