Steampunk World’s Fair
The Greatest Steampunk Festival in the World
The Steampunk World’s Fair (SWF)is billed as the greatest Steampunk festival in the world and in 2012 they are planning for it to be bigger and better then ever. The Steampunk movement originally had lots of conventions but very few if any festivals. The Steampunk World’s Fair has spawned many festivals but they are still one of the largest and the original. Bringing merchants and entertainment from all over the country together to enjoy the Steampunk theme and people that are into that genre, this event has broken ground and records.
Entertainment (this is a short list, they are still adding to their entertainment schedule):
- Dark Follies – Vaudeville and the side show mixing together to strut its stuff on the walkways and streets of the SWF.
- Imperial Amerikan Air Corp – This pseudo historical re-enactment group sets up camp and invites the attendees to tour through their camp and meet the soldiers of their corp. Sit down and listen to them tell war stories and have a good time.
- Strange Artifact – From Japan and the burgeoning Steampunk movement in that area comes the song stylings of the Strange Artifact.
- Painless Parker – Ballads, laments, sea shanties all through the filter of a little bit of punk. This is the sound of Painless Parker.
- Voltaire – Master of musical-satire. Taking a page from his namesake, he has been bringing down the house and setting his audiences rolling in the aisles for years.
