Great Dickens Christmas Fair

& Victorian Holiday Party

Weekends – Nov 23 – Dec 23, 2012

The Great Dickens Christmas Fair is one of the first Steampunk and Victorian Faires that I ever read about and to be honest is probably the reason that I included the Steampunk genre on this site. The sheer number of entertainments offered at the fair and the size of the marketplace the present rival any Ren faire you will ever attend and it just looks like everybody is having a great time.

I have not been to this fair yet, but I do say yet, I will eventually make it there.  When you attend the Great Dickens Christmas Fair you are in for a treat though.  You get to celebrate the season by stepping back into Victorian London.   You will see the traditions that people practiced back in the Victorian era, from sing-a-longs , to caroling, to puppetry and much more.  If you are wanting your kids to experience a simpler side of Christmas and the Holiday season this is the place to be.  See handmade crafts, shows, street performers and a cast of characters straight out of Charles Dickens stories.  You might find yourself standing around with Bob Cratchet and Tiny Tim or even listening to a story with Mr Dickens himself.

Six stages of entertainment, a huge cast of costumed characters walking around the village, great shopping and of course food galore!
