Albannach

Outlawed Tunes On Outlawed Pipes

Albannach means Scottish or Scotsman and that describes Albannach to a tee.  Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland this pipe & drum band is bringing a different take on Celtic music to people all over the world.  They tour across the US each year visiting faires and festivals, while they let their music tell the story of a vibrant culture and an amazing people.

Albannach are first and foremost musicians:

  • Jamsie – The Baron of Bass – bass drummer  & vocals – With musical influences ranging from Yanni to AC/DC, Jamsie brings his own style to the bass drum and also provides some of the vocals for some of the songs.
  • Donnie – Bullfrog – bagpiper – World-renowned piper that has played all over the world.  He started off playing traditional bag-pipe music and has since then taken it to a new level with Albannach.
  • Jacquie – bass rhythm drummer & vocals – Her drum skills help to keep the band together and on task but it is her amazing voice that really makes her shine when she takes to the stage.
  • Aya – Bodhran – Full of energy and one of the most exciting people you will ever see on stage, Aya loves the fact that he can use his love of his homeland and the music that they make to entertain people around the world.
  • Colin – Lead Drum – Colin has been playing the snare drum since he was 8 when he played with a local pipe band.  His ability on the snare drum takes the traditional feel of a pipe band to a whole new level with the energy of Albannach.
And that is the fun of an Albannach show, the energy.  They are bringing the traditional feel of Celtic music to a new place.  Their shows are full of energy and passion.  The  members of Albannach not only introduce audiences to the flavor of Scotland that these amazing musicians know and love.  They are trying to bring a new style of Celtic music to faires and festivals and to the huge fan base they have developed over the years.  Through the years they have also produced some amazing albums that you can take home when you have to have your Albannach ‘fix’ after the faire is over.
